Motivation and Goals in 2022
First things first: I wish everybody a healthy and happy new year.
I really hope this year will be a turning point and things will start to improve.
After 2 years of the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and considering all the other challenges we are facing in the world today, I think we are all ready for some positivity.
Even if it is hard to find sometimes.

One of my biggest hopes for this year and for life in general is, that maybe I can contribute to better communication and understanding between people of different backgrounds by building a bridge with some of my illustrations and projects.
Especially now, when talking to each other seems impossible at times with all the different opinions and polarization in the world, I still think that visual (science) communication can help.
In this post I also want to quickly share my goals for this year with you.
Goals for SciViz Buddies in 2022
Start blogging regularly and hopefully connecting to many, many people who are just as interested in science communication as I am.
Start a YouTube channel documenting my journey in becoming a better science communicator and illustrator.
Content ideas for the channel are:Creative process videos – to improve and inspire others to get creative as well
Tips for scientists on how to communicate their research
Reviews and summaries of books, software and other science communication resources.
Learn a lot more about science communication, visualisation, and outreach.
Applying for a master program in science communication.
After working in quality assurance for one of the covid-19 vaccine production sites for the last 1,5 years, with very little time to pursue my science visualisation passion, I am so happy that this year I am finally back.
2022 is the first year where I will focus on science visualisation and communication as my main job. Can’t wait to see where the journey takes me.
